Cookiesprocessing your order - confirming stock availability and delivery dates
At Coastal Home we value your online privacy and as such we have set out below which cookies are placed when you visit and use our website and its services. We have taken this step in response to Regulation 6 of the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.
In line with the guidance issued by the the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) we have separated the cookies used by our site into one of the four categories suggested by the ICC (e.g. Strictly Necessary, Performance, Functional and Targeting/Advertising).
All the cookies are first party, that is to say they have been issued by us and not a third party such as an external advertiser. We have no adverts on our site and (with the exception of the Analytic performance cookies) all of the cookies we place are related to the correct functioning of our website when you are browsing. There are NO cookies placed which track your behaviour for Targeting/Advertising.
On a typical first time visit to our site up to nine cookies can be placed. Of these five are related to your use of the site, navigation, shopping cart, product search preferences etc. The remaining four allow us to track the performance of the site. None of the cookies stores any personally identifying information.
Of the five cookies placed related to the site, three are 'strictly necessary', that is to say without them you as a user would be unable to navigate and use the facilities of our site correctly (such as place orders, navigate etc). The remaining two are 'functional' in other words they perform a set task but without them the site would still perform but the experience may not be as enhanced. These two cookies are used for activities such as remembering your preferred sort order in a product gallery. Of these five cookies, four expire when you close your browser and one persists for 1 week.
The remaining four cookies enable us to measure the 'performance' of the site. These allow us to see how best to enhance the user experience by measuring for example which parts of our site are visited more than others, which content is more popular (and which is less), what problems occur when ordering and using the shopping cart, and how relevant our site has been to your requirements when you first visited etc. None of this information is personally identifiable and is ONLY used to enhance your future experience of the site (e.g. removing content that is not relevant, simplifying navigation etc). Of these four cookies one expires after your browser closes, one after half an hour, one after 6 months and one after 2 years. The reason for the longer persistence of these last two is to distinguish between new users and existing users. A new user to our site will visit areas and navigate in a different way than an existing user (as they have been here before) and having these longer persisting cookies allows us to measure the performance for different users more effectively and ultimately give you a better browsing experience and better service.
If you have any questions relating to cookies and their use please contact us and will do our best to answer your concerns.
